Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about who we help, what it costs, and how we work.
Is CyberDefense Firm really free?
Yes. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded by grants and donations, not client fees. Qualifying organizations receive our core services free or heavily subsidized, with no strings attached.
Who qualifies for free help?
Schools (private, faith-based, and charter), churches and houses of worship, small businesses, and community nonprofits that have limited IT resources. If you are not sure whether you qualify, just ask.
What services do you provide?
Risk assessments, staff cybersecurity training, incident response planning, and basic compliance support for frameworks like HIPAA, FERPA, and NIST. Everything is delivered in plain language, no jargon.
Do you serve my area?
Yes. We serve organizations nationwide, both remotely and on-site. We are headquartered in Riverside County, California, in Indio.
How is a nonprofit different from a regular cybersecurity company?
Most firms make money when you stay dependent on them. Our mission is the opposite: we teach your team to handle the basics, hand you the tools, and step back. Our funding comes from grants and donations, not from keeping you on a subscription.
What is the difference between CyberDefense Firm and CyberDefense Consulting?
CyberDefense Firm is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides free and subsidized help to underserved organizations. CyberDefense Consulting LLC is the for-profit side that serves businesses at market rates, and its profits help fund the nonprofit's mission. Same team, two lanes.
